As per drinking water standard prescribe by BIS (IS 10500), a healthy drinking water desire 500 mg/l total dissolved solids (TDS) that include essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, etc. According to BIS, even up to 2000 mg/l TDS containing drinking water can be consumed where an alternate source of drinking water is not available. The absence of essential minerals in drinking water reduces the immunity of the body and people suffer from different types of diseases including loss of bone strength, fluctuations in blood pressure, nerves problem, muscle pain, etc,. RO (reverse osmosis) water who’s TDS occurs mostly in 10 to 30 mg/l ranges, does not fulfill the desired level of minerals in the body. It has been proved that drinking RO water in long term, is hazardous to human health. Present developed adsorption-based D-tox water nano membrane works on gravity principle, is capable to remove toxic contaminants like arsenic, fluoride, chromium, lead etc. and kill harmful bacteria, viruses completely ( >99.9999%) by retaining all the minerals without wastage of water.

The present developed D-tox nano membrane contains charged particle of porous nano adsorbent and nano biocide impregnated activated carbon which is incorporated in to the simple sediment cartridges through nano coating methodology ( coating thickness ~100- 200 micron ). The filtration of water occurs through nanopores (size 3-4 nm) of the nano adsorbent particle (size ~20 nm). Positively charged nano adsorbent adsorbs the toxic inorganic contaminants of water like arsenic, chromium, lead, etc. which present in their negative oxyanion forms in water. Positively charged nano adsorbent and nano biocide kills or neutralizes negative charged proteinous microorganisms like viruses, bacteria, etc completely (>99.9999%) through neutralization reaction. The activated carbon in the nano membrane cartridges remove pesticides, bad odor etc and makes a pleasant taste of water. Derived water is designated here as D-tox Neer. It retains all the essential minerals of water and maintains a neutral pH range of water. The quantity of nano adsorbent and nano biocide impregnated carbon in the D-tox cartridge is kept in sufficient amount in order to pass the challenge test of killing more than 1000 million harmful bacteria like E.coli. Hence the presently developed D-tox nano membrane can purify even sewage water if it mixes up in water due to leakage in supply line. Because of adsorption based filtration technology, no wastage of water occurs during filtration. Filtration occurs through gravitation force, hence no electricity is required. The present developed technology has been protected under intellectual property rights (IPR) by the grant of filed Indian patent.
